SubtitlesHello everyone! My name is Gandalin and welcome to another World of Warcraft guide!

Today we'll be talking about how to unlock the very first Allied Races in World of Warcraft! The Battle for Azeroth preorder sale launched earlier this week and with it came the ability to unlock the first four Allied Races: Lightforged Draenei and Void Elves for the Alliance, and Highmountain Tauren and Nightborne for the Horde. To unlock these races you have to satisfy what boils down to 3 different criteria, which I'm gonna explain for you right now. The first criteria for getting Allied Races is to purchase Battle for Azeroth. You won't be able to access them without it, even if you meet the other criteria.

Note that these races all involve a special achievement that isn’t currently in the game files yet, but will be in 7.3.5’s game files, and the achievements are unique per each race — for example, to unlock a Void Elf you’ll need to do a special quest chain that grants an achievement. There’s one for Highmountain Tauren, Void Elves. This is just uncalled for. In order to play VE I am going to have to level to 110 again because I played mostly Horde this expansion, grind out weeks of Argussian rep and make sure I have fully completed Argus, THEN more intro quests to unlock the race on the new expansion. What exactly am I.

Both the Standard and Digital Deluxe Editions will work, so choose whichever one is best for you. Buying the Collector's Edition will also let you access the Allied Races, but you'll have to wait until you receive the physical copy when the BfA launches. The second criteria is to complete specific achievements for each race. These achievements are all account-bound so you can complete them using any single toon or any combination of toons from either or both factions. For the Lightforged Draenei you need to earn Officer of the Light by reaching Exalted with the Army of the Light, and for the Void Elves you need to earn Protector of the Argussian Reach by becoming Exalted with that faction.

For both of these Allied Races you also need to complete You Are Now Prepared! By finishing all the storylines on Argus. For help earning rep for these two factions, check out my guide to the Argus reputations. For the Highmountain Tauren you need to earn Highmountain Tribe by reaching Exalted with that faction, and you need to earn Ain't No Mountain High Enough by completing all the storylines in Highmountain. Rep for this faction is earned from story quests, world quests, and emissaries in Highmountain. For the Nightborne you need to earn The Nightfallen by reaching Exalted with that faction, and you need to earn Insurrection by finishing the entire campaign in Suramar.

To access Insurrection, you need to complete all the main storylines of Good Suramaritan. Check out my guide for more details.

Rep for this faction is earned from story quests, world quests, and emissaries in Suramar. Again, all of these achievements are account-bound so you can complete them on any combination of characters. This means that an Alliance character can satisfy the requirements for both Horde races and vice versa, so no need to worry about completing storylines and earning Exalted on multiple toons.

The final criteria to unlock Allied Races is to run through each one's recruitment scenario. To do this you will need a level 110 character of the appropriate faction. Remember that your purchase of Battle for Azeroth comes with a free 110 boost, which you can use if you need a toon of the opposite faction from what you usually play. On your 110 character, head to your faction's embassy. The Stormwind Embassy is located northwest of the Dwarven District and the Orgrimmar Embassy is located west of the Valley of Strength. Once there you'll speak to Anduin or Sylvanas and choose which race to recruit first. Don't worry, you can come back later and do the one you didn't pick.

These scenarios provide more lore and context for why each race chooses to join your faction, and once you complete it, you'll be able to create characters of that Allied Race, which start at level 20, on any server. You'll also earn a mount themed after your Allied Race that could be used by any character of the faction they joined. So those are the 3 criteria you need to satisfy to unlock these 4 Allied Races. Now this video wouldn't be complete without talking about those beautiful heritage armor sets. You earn these by leveling an Allied Race from 20 to 110. You CANNOT use any level boosts, race changes, or levels granted from the Recruit A Friend program to earn the armor set.

The only way to level quicker is by using heirlooms and leveling potions. Once unlocked, the heritage armor can be used by any toon of that Allied Race, including ones that have been race changed. So there you have it! Our first group of Allied Races. Now we know that Zandalari Trolls and Dark Iron Dwarves are going to be the next ones added, but they won't be here until Battle for Azeroth. We don't know exactly what their criteria will be, but I think we can assume that it'll be similar to what we have to do for these 4.After all, the idea behind Allied Races is that we get to know them as we help solve their problems and then we get to bring them into the fold. Completing their storylines and earning Exalted is a pretty good way to accomplish that.
