Extra Pioneer Squad can be callin through Kampfgruppe Headquarters 200 manpower with 5 population cap penalty.As the Kampfgruppe Headquarters are destroyed, Pioneer Reinforcements isavailable. This is an emergency precaution when the headquarters is destroyed.With the cost of 300 manpower, 2 squad of Pioneer Squad is call-in with themain purpose of repairing the destroyed Headquarters. As the Pioneer Squadsuffer losses, they can be reinforced at the cost of 25 manpower for eachlosses with 1 population cap penalty.
The importance of Pioneer Squad is thatthey are the only unit that can build Production Building for the Wehrmachtarmy. The Production Building build by the squad is Infanterie Kompanie, LichteMechanized Kompanie, Support Armor Korps and Heavy Panzer Korps.
Each of the buildingexcept for Infanterie Kompanie can only be built after escalation of battlephase by Kampfgruppe Headquarters. This building make available more powerfulunits. Other Production Building that only Pioneer Squad can build areMunitions Cache and Fuel Cache. This caches increase the income for Munitionsand Fuel respectively at the rate of 5 point per minute.Besides that, thePioneer Squad also the only unit that can build Razor Wire, Teller Mine andS-Mine Field.
This structure include in Field Defenses. Razor wire build by thePioneer Squad can denied accesses of infantry unit only, friendly and hostile,to a certain place or route. Teller Mine is an anti-tank mine that can only betrigged by vehicle. It can cause critical damage to tank and massive damage toarmoured vehicle.
It best to build it along the path that tank or armouredvehicle easy to use. This surprise the enemy and cause damage to the enemyrank. S-Mine Field is a field of anti-infantry mine planted by Pioneer Squad.Any enemy unit went into the field will trigger the mine. It only cause majordamage to infantry unit and minimum damage to armoured vehicle but no damage atall to enemy tank. The S-Mine Field is easily detected as it has signpostaround the field, thus it is best to build it at place that enemy unit mustpast through such as brigades or Standard Territory Point. There have no choice but to sacrificetheir squad to break through the minefield unless they have Combat EngineerSquad with mine detector. Another importance of Pioneer Squad is that they arethe only unit in the Wehrmacht army that could repair damage structure,building and vehicle.
They the only unit that can repair destroyed bridges,damage weapon, damage tank and vehicle as well damage base building, bunker andcaches. The Pioneer Squad Also can build Bunker,a type of Field Defenses, on any connecting friendly territory. The Bunkerbuild is useful in protecting important strategic point. It provide extraprotection to any infantry unit and heavy machine gun team of Wehrmacht armyfielding them.
Beside extra protection, the bunker can be upgrade MGEmplacement that can protect point from enemy capture. The bunker also can beupgrade into Healing Station or Reinforcement Point. This provide healing andreinforcement to the infantry unit fighting on the front, if buildstrategically. The Pioneer Squad also can build Fire Pit to prevent freezingduring winter skirmishes. This Field Defenses is importance when blizzard occurin winter skirmishes as blizzard freeze infantry unit fast. The Fire Pit keepinfantry unit warm and prevent freezing.
As Pioneer Squad gain veterencythrough the battle or Troop Training from Elite Troops Doctrine commander, thesquad can use Field First Aid. This first aid is use on other infantry unitthat are injured. It heal them over time.
This reduced the need of buildingbunker and upgrading it into Healing Station as Healing Station is static andonce it is destroyed, it is lost forever. The veteran Pioneer Squad is mobile.They can heal injured infantry unit and fall back if suffer losses. There are 2 available natural upgrade.One is Flammenwerfer 35 Flamethrower upgrade and the other is Hazard RemovalPackage upgrade. They can only upgraded with one of those but not both.Upgrading the Pioneer Squad with Flammenwerfer 35 Flamethrower increase itinfantry combat effectiveness. The upgrade replace one of their MP-40 SubMachine Gun with Flammenwerfer 35 Flamethrower. This flamethrower is effectivein combating with infantry under cover and in ambient building.
The squad justburn them and include the building the enemy infantry fielding. This upgradecome with risk, the flamethrower can explode and burn the man using along withhis surroundings.
Once the flamethrower is lost they have to be reupgrade tohave back the flamethrower. The flamethrower also could be left on thebattlefield as the Pioneer Squad using it died in combat. Now, the flamethroweris open for anyone to use. Upgrading the Pioneer Squad with Hazard RemovalPackage reduces the squad combat effectiveness as it replace one of their MP-40Sub Machine Gun with a mine detector. Although their combat effectiveness isreduce, their role as support unit increase. The present of mine detector meanthat the squad could detect mine planted by Soviet Combat Engineer Squad whichTM-35 Mine or PMD-6 Anti Personal Mine from Defensive Tactics commander and safelyremove it.
This upgrade also provide Wire Cutters needed for the squad to cutRazor Wire blocking path. Using commanders, increases theimportance of Pioneer Squad on the battlefield. Using Defensive Doctrinecommander, Festung Armor Doctrine commander, Festung Support Doctrinecommander, Joint Operation Doctrine commander, German Mechanized Doctrinecommander or Storm Doctrine make available few more Field Defenses structurethan only Pioneer Squad could build. Tank Trap from Defensive Doctrinecommander is a Field Defenses structure capable of blocking a path to vehiclemovement but not infantry movement.

This artillery pieces provide in mapartillery fire anywhere within the pieces radius with the cost of ammunition.Thus could change the tide of the battle if use wisely. Pak 43 Emplacement, aField Defenses, is available to be built by Pioneer Squad only when using JointOperation Doctrine commander, Festung Armor Doctrine commander or DefensiveDoctrine commander. This heavy anti-tank gun has capability to handle anyvehicle use by enemy. Pioneer Squad also has capability tobuild Trench as a Field Defenses.
Trench only can be build when using DefensiveDoctrine commander or Osttruppen Doctrine commander. After it is build it, itis consider an ambient building. It means that anyone including enemy infantryunit can field it. The Trench provide defence to infantry unit including teamweapon except for anti-tank gun crew.
Pioneer Squad also been provided with theability to Hull Down tank when using Festung Armor Doctrine commander,Defensive Doctrine commander or Fortified Armor Doctrine commander. The squad will build a sandbag emplacementsurrounding the tank making it immobile but increases the tank defence andoffense. Some of the Wehrmacht commanders willprovide modifier directly to the Pioneer Squad or indirectly. TacticalMovement, an active ability, provide a direct modifier for a short period oftime. Available from German Infantry Doctrine commander, Lightning War Doctrinecommander, Blitzkrieg Doctrine commander, Jaeger Infantry Doctrine commander orStorm Doctrine commander, it provide a speed modifier to infantry unit exceptfor anti-tank gun.
Under this ability, the Pioneer Squad will move at its topspeed. This is useful to outflank enemy machine gun team before it is set up.Although the Pioneer Squad move fast, they will still be suppressed or pinnedif they move through a machine gun fire. Another speed modifier that can affect the Pioneer Squad is a passive ability called Sprint from Encirclement Doctrine commander. This ability has the same affect as Tactical Movement ability with a slight different. The time of effect for Sprint is much shorter than Tactical Movement. Sprint is a unit ability while Tactical Movement affect all infantry unit on the field.
Air-Dropped Medical Supplies fromLuftwaffe Supply Doctrine commander provide indirect modifier to infantry unit.This work by picking up the Medical Supplies drop by overflight plane. Theoverflight plane will drop three Medical Supplies. As the Pioneer Squad pickingup the supplies, any injury taken from fight by the squad and infantry unit nearthe squad will be heal at fast rate. They also experience increases combateffectiveness modifier for a while according to how many supplies the squadtake. If the squad take three, they will experiences 3 times the modifier.Calling in Artillery Field Officer of Ostrruppen Doctrine commander, AssaultSupport Doctrine commander, Joint Operation Doctrine commander or GermanInfantry Doctrine commander provide an offensive modifier to the Pioneer Squad.The officer can use Concentrated Fire ability that increase the accuracy ofinfantry unit within the officer vicinity. Therefore the Pioneer Squad willhave an accuracy modifier for the duration of when Artillery Field Officer usethe ability.
Pioneer Squad will have constant defensive modifier when the squadis within the same territory as Panzer IV Command Tank. This command tank isavailable one on the battlefield when using Festung Armor Doctrine commander,Mobile Defense Doctrine commander, Blitzkrieg Doctrine commander, GermanMechanized Doctrine commander or Fortified Armor Doctrine commander. Thecommand tank provide a constant defensive modifier to any unit that in the samefriendly territory as the command tank. Pioneer Squad experiencing the modifierwill receive less damage from enemy fire. Counterattack Tactics, an active ability, from Mobile Defense Doctrine commander give the squad a capturing modifier. This modifier causes the Pioneer Squad to capture neutral territory faster than usual.
This can increases the rate of the army advance and can isolate enemy territory. It can be uses to cut enemy supply line and disrupt their economy. Pioneer Squad play an enormous andimportant role on the battlefield but it is a weak unit.
Equip with MP 40 SubMachine Gun, it has adequate close combat but weak long rang combat. Enemy unitwith rifle armament can easily deal with the Pioneer Squad. Although upgradewith flamethrower, it has risk explosion. If the man using the flamethrower gothit, the chance for it to explode is high. If the flamethrower explode, it willspew flame surrounding the squad.
Killing the man once use the flamethrower andthe man nearby. The lack anti-tank weaponry could spell death for PioneerSquad. They cannot hold out against tank. It is best to retreat them beforelosing them.
They are also vulnerable when building something. When they arebuilding or repairing something they will not retaliate when under attack. Atthis time, they will die easily. Under Fear Propaganda Artillery use by SovietAnti-Infantry Tactics commander, NKVD Rifle Disruption Tactics commander and Terror Tactics commander,the Pioneer Squad will be suppressed and immediately pinned. At this time theyare very vulnerable to any attack from infantry and vehicle as they cannotretaliate due to being pinned. The only option is either to wait until theeffect of the propaganda end or retreat immediately.
In conclusion, PioneerSquad is most important unit in the battlefield despite the lack of firepower. T-34/85 Medium Tank is a specialmedium tank for Soviet army that is only call-in when using a certain commander. The commandersthat allowed T-34/85 Medium Tank to be call-in are Guard Motor CoordinationTactics commander, Advanced Warfare Tactics commander and Armored AssaultTactics commander.
Using the Advanced Warfare Tactics commander release 1T-34/85 at cost of 400 manpower and 140 fuel with 12 population caps. But usingGuard Motor Coordination Tactics commander or Armored Assault Tactics commanderrelease 2 T-34/85 Medium Tanks instate of 1 at the cost of 740 manpower and 260fuel. It takes up a lot of population caps which is 24. Which is 12 for eachtank. Using either Guard Motor Coordination Tactics commander or ArmoredAssault Tactics commander can save a lot of resources than using AdvancedWarfare Tactics commander. This medium tank has a good tank combatcapability with a few serious downside.
T-34/85 has the same chassis as T-34/76which gave it a good slope armour that could deflect most round from Stug IIIAusf. G Assult Gun of German Mechanized Assault Doctrine commander and PanzerIV Command Tank and seldom from the standard gun of from all German Tank withthe exception of Flakpanzer IV Ostwind. The different of T-34/76 and T-34/85 isthat T-34/85 has more powerful gun than T-34/76. The 85mm gun of T-34/85 couldpenetrate and cause damage any tank even a heavy tank from the side or therear.
One notable different in both tank is that T-34/85 has extra oil tank onboth of it side whereas T-34/76 has none. Using Guard Motor CoordinationTactics commander or Armored Assault Tactics commander gave a passive abilitywhich is Vehicle Crew Repair Training. This ability gave the tank capability torepair itself if damaged. While this ability is in effect, the tank will beimmobile and cannot initiate any attack, thus the tank is a sitting duck aslong as it is undergoing self-repair.
This ability is best use when in deepfriendly territory or when there are other units in the vicinity of the tank.As the tank gain veterency, it unlock an ability to shift the tank crew intocapturing territory. This ability or rather mode is known as Secure Mode. Thetank crew shift into this mode can capture territory but it cannot retaliate ifunder attack. This ability unlock raiding operation as tank is impervious tostandard infantry weaponry.
If a hostile tank is near the tank, it is best to quicklyenter back into Combat Mode to counter the enemy tank. The unique ability ofT-34s tank is that they can ram tank. This also apply to T-34/85 Medium Tank.They have ability to initiate Ramming Maneuver. This manoeuvre cause the tankto speed up and ram into a hostile tank.
The receiving end of this manoeuvrewill have massive damage and critical hit of engine damage. This slowed downthe tank. This manoeuvre can only be done when there is a clear path to theenemy tank. The Ramming Maneuver has it downsides. If the enemy tank does notreceive the ram, the T-34/85 will experience a slowed movement cause by engineoverheat when Ramming Maneuver is underway. If the enemy tank receive the ram,the T-34/85 will be immobilized due to drivetrain damage, main gun destroyedand engine overheat causing slowed movement.
This making the tank an easytarget to the rammed hostile tank and any unit that could cause damage to tank.Therefore it is advice to use this manoeuvre when there are other tank oranti-tank unit backing up the T-34/85 intending on ramming. It is not advisableusing this method for the purpose of slowing down the enemy tank as there areother better method that does not sacrifice combat capability of unit such asthrowing RPG-43 Anti-Tank Grenade by Conscript Infantry Squad. T-35/85 Medium Tank is not good indealing infantry as the up gunned 88mm tank is only effective against tank butnot infantry. The lack of pintle mounted machine gun and coaxial machine gunfurther diminishes its infantry combat capability. The driver machine gun onthe tank is not effective enough in repelling infantry attacking the tank as itonly attack enemy in front of the tank only. Enemy infantry only need approachthe tank from the side or rear and attack it with Panzerfaust, an anti-tankdisposable recoilless gun, which cause engine damage or Panzershreck, ananti-tank rocket launcher, which cause potent damage to the tank. The mediumtank also must be wary of mine planted by the enemy as it could cause seriousand critical damage to the tank.
Pioneer Squad can plant teller mine whichcould damage the tank engine and slowed down the tank. Whereas Riegel 43 Anti-TankMine planted by SdKfz 251 Half-track given by Jaeger Armor Doctrine commander andStorm Doctrine commander could cause more serious damage than teller mineplanted by Pioneer Squad. This mine destroyed the tank tracks cause it to beimmobilized. This prevent the tank from going anywhere and make it an easiertarget for off-map and in-map artillery as well as enemy unit that can destroytank. Fighting in winter skirmishes has an effect on the medium tank. The tank will be slowed down when passing through a deep snow.
As passing through a deep snow, the tank will leave a track trail on it. This making search and destroy operation conduct by the enemy easier as they only need to follow the trail.
Blizzard that happened randomly during winter skirmishes restrict the medium tank. This make the tank easier to be surprise by enemy infantry as the tank has low infantry combat capability. The medium tank sometimes get abandoned as result of taking huge damagethat kill it crew.
When that happen, the tank will be open for anyone on thebattlefield. The enemy could seize it and use it for they own.
If the tankcan’t be retaken, destroying it is the best option. In conclusion, T-34/85Medium Tank is a good tank to counter enemy tank but it has downside that couldjeopardize it. Conscript Infantry squad is the main infantry unitfor Soviet army which consist of 6 man. The Conscript Infantry squad is aversatile unit for the Soviet army.
It is call in by Regimental FieldHeadquarters, which is the main building of the Soviet army. The manpower useto call in one of this squad is 240. Since the unit is an infantry unit, thereis no need of fuel to call it in. The penalty of call in the Conscript Squad 6population cap, one for each man in the squad. In can also be automaticallycall-in when Rapid Conscription ability from NKVD Rifle Disruption Tacticscommander, Conscripts Support Tactics commander or Soviet Reserve Armycommander in effect. This ability automatically call-in up to 2 squads uponlosses on the battlefield. The new squad only come after losses of 6 man eitherfrom different unit or the same unit.
This could reduce the resourcesconsumption for call-in a lot of Conscript Infantry Squad. The battle couldstar with only 3 squads but ended with more than 3 squads if time perfectly. The main weapon uses by the squad isMosin-Nagant Bolt Action Rifle which good at long range combat.
Upon losses ofman due kill-in-action or merging with another squad or team weapon, the squadcan be reinforcement at the costs of 20 manpower with 1 population caps. Thereinforcement cost of the Conscript Infantry Squad is cheaper than other squad.Conscript Infantry Squad can take any weapon left by either enemy or friendlyand use it for their own good. If pick up anti-tank weaponry, they can destroytank easily but they anti-infantry capability lowered. They can only pick up afew weapon before its reach it limit. They can also crew an empty weapon teamsuch as MG42 Machine Gun or Pak 40 Anti-Tank Gun. This will reduced the numberof man in the squad and it is important to retreat for reinforcement. Oneof the ability of Conscript Infantry Squad is Merge ability.
This ability mergethe squad with other squad or team weapon on the battlefield. This provideinstant reinforcement on the front line without needing of retreat forreinforcement. This also reduce manpower consumption as reinforcement ofConscript Infantry Squad is cheap. Besides that, the squad also can increase ismovement with Oorah! This ability causes the squad to move at it topspeed for a certain time.
It is useful for flanking a machine gun while themachine gun being set-up. This does not prevent the squad from being pinned orsuppressed due to machine gun fire.
It also make the Conscript Infantry Squadto arrive at the combat area much faster. The Conscript Infantry Squad alsoability Throw Molotov Cocktail. This ability causes the squad to hurl a Molotov Cocktail at the enemy.
It burn around the thrown area and gave damage to anyinfantry unit on the area whether it is a friendly unit or hostile unit. TheMolotov also can be thrown into building which is fielded by the enemy infantry.It burn the infantry in the building if they did not get out fast. This abilityneeded to be upgraded at the Regimental Field Headquarters.
Abilityenable, the conscript squad could get close to the enemy machine gun team tothrow Molotov before getting suppressed. The conscript squad also has anti-tankcapability. It can throw RPG-43 Anti-Tank Grenade to enemy vehicle whetherdestroy it for light vehicle or damage the vehicle engine for tanks. Thisability also must be upgraded at the Regimental Field Headquarters. Theanti-tank grenade has a short radius thus, the squad need to get close to thetank throw it. It is best to have a full squad to get close to a tank to throwit.
This partner with Oorah! Ability make the conscript to run faster and throwthe anti-tank grenade like hit and run tactic. The Conscript Infantry Squad canbuild a Sandbag Fighting Position for heavy cover on the battlefield. The squadcould fight behind this cover and last longer than fighting in the open.Building the position required time, thus the Conscript Infantry Squad must beprotect by other unit until the Sandbag Fighting Position is up. The ConscriptInfantry Squad also can build Campfire Pit during winter skirmishes. Thisprovides warm to the infantry unit surrounding it and prevent them from dyingdue to coldness of winter. As the unit gain veterancy, it can set-up Trip WireFlare.
This is a small mine that when trigger release s flare to reveal thesurrounding area for a short time. This useful as an early warning system toprevent enemy unit from launching surprise attack. There are a bunch of passive ability given to theConscript Infantry Squad when using commander to increase its versatility on the battlefield. One of the ability is Hit theDirt!
Ability form Conscript Support Tactics and Guard Rifle Combined ArmsTactics. This passive ability make the conscript squads will stick to theground and become immobile when enable. The squad are not pinned as they can stillfight. This ability increases the defense of the Conscript Infantry Squad but can’t be using if the squad is suppressed or pinned. Other passive ability given to the Conscript Infantry Squad is RPG-40 Anti-Tank Grenade Assault of Tank Hunter Tactics commander. This ability give the conscript to throw smaller but numerous anti-tank grenade compared to RPG-43 Anti-Tank Grenade as all the member will throw 1 at the targeted vehicle. Although it has no critical damage effect as RPG-43 which cause damage engine, the numerous thrown grenade cause much damage.
This ready to use ability can replaced Anti-tank Grenade Package upgrade at Regimental Field Headquarters and also save manpower and fuels for increasing fighting forces. Other abilitygranted to the Conscript Infantry Squad is Conscript Assault Package.
This is apassive ability given to the conscript squad when using Conscript Support Tactics commander, Guard Rifle Combined Arms Tactics commander, AdvancedWarfare Tactics commander, Soviet Reserve Army commander or Soviet Shock Armycommander. This passive ability enable every Conscript Infantry Squad on thebattlefield to have an upgrade. This upgrade replace 3 of 6 Mosin-Nagant BoltAction Rifle with PPSh-41 Submachine Gun.
This decrease the long range combatcapability but increase short range combat. It is best to bring the ConscriptInfantry Squad with Conscript Assault Package Upgrade nearer to the enemyinfantry unit for much more damage. Another weapon upgrade available to the Conscript Infantry Squad is PTRS 41 Anti-tank Rifle from Tank Hunter Tactics commander.
This commander give passive ability called Conscript PTRS package which enable PTRS 41 Anti-tank Rifle upgrade for Conscript Infantry Squad. This upgrade replace 2 of 6 Mosin-Nagant Bolt Action Rifle with PTRS 41 Anti-tank Rifle. This increase the squad anti-armored capability with the penalty of anti-infantry although it is not much due to having 4 member till using Mosin-Nagant rifle.
This prepare the forces against early threat of vehicle attack bu either Wehrmacht army or Oberkommando West army. Besides that, another passive ability givento the Conscript Infantry Squad is Conscript Repair Kit. This ability give thesquad extra usefulness on the battlefield. The squad now can repair vehicle andstructure. There is no more need to put Combat Engineer Squad in the heat ofbattle to repair tanks that are damage. Other than that, passive ability of Tank Hunter Tactics commander known as PMD-6M Light Anti-Vehicle Mines grant the ability to build that mines to the Conscript Infantry Squad. This mines, under Field Defenses, Does not have enough power to cause massive or major damage to enemy tanks but it can temporary stop the vehicle and tanks even the heavy one by Crew Shock.
Crew Shock cause the vehicle to be not functional for a moment. The vehicle will become an easy target for attack. This mine is useful in ambush operation with AT Gun. The mine temporary stop the enemy vehicles or tanks and AT Gun can finish it off.
There are also several active abilitythat effect the Conscript Infantry Squad. One of it is Armored VehicleDetection ability. This ability is only available when using either Shock MotorHeavy Tactics commander or Urban Defense Tactics commander. This ability whenenable, give the Conscript Infantry Squad ability to detect vehicle double thesquad sight. They detect it through the distinct sound produce by the vehicle. Thisprovides early warning of enemy vehicle attack so the Soviet army couldcounter it adequately.
The vehicle onlyappear on the mini map and not on the battlefield. Using For Mother Russia!ability of Counterattack Tactics commander give a modifier to the ConscriptInfantry Squad in its defence and offense. This ability also increases thesquad movement across battlefield. This make the conscript squad arrive on thefront line much faster. Using this ability has its penalty. After the durationof the ability has ended, the squad will decreases in its defence and offensedue to tiredness. Their movement also decreases.
Even with the use of Oorah!ability only return its movement speed to the usually for a short amount oftime. At this time the Conscript Infantry Squad id more vulnerable to enemyattack. Making an occupied ambient building onthe battlefield into Forward Headquarters has an effect on the ConscriptInfantry Squad. This capability only, provide when using Urban Defense Tacticscommander, provides a combat modifier to the surrounding Infantry Squad.Conscript Infantry Squad within the vicinity of the headquarters receiveincrease in defence and offense. The headquarters also provide a forwardreinforcement point. This prevent time for the squad to retreat back to baseand move back to the front line. They only need to move to the ForwardHeadquarters for immediate reinforcement.
It’s a must to remember that ConscriptInfantry Squad is an infantry squad. They are not strong against tank. Theirrifle could not do any damage tank at all and tank that specialise indestroying infantry squad such as Ostwind Flakpanzer IV and ‘Brummbars’Sturmpanzer IV can easily shred them apart.
